The symposium will pay tribute to Dr. Jens O Andreasen, a pioneer in the application of technology to improve the prognosis and treatment of dental trauma, a condition that affects over one billion people and to which Dr. Andreasen dedicated a lifetime of research. Dr JO Andreasen worked at the University Hospital of Copenhagen and passed away in September 2020. Dr Andreasen is an iconic figure in the study of dental trauma and also a pioneer in the use of technology to improve the diagnosis and treatment of dental trauma.
The concepts and applications of e-(oral)Health were tested during the recent COVID pandemic. Thus, the perfect scenario was set up to globally apply the results of e-(oral)Health research and development from the individual clinician to organizations and governments. During this symposium, the successes and failures observed during the application of e-(oral)Health knowledge will be discussed as well as the questions that remain open for future research.
The symposium will both be a celebration of Dr Andreasen’s life and work and an opportunity to identify and develop future research on e-oral health both in primary and secondary care.
To pay tribute to Dr JO Andreasen and highlight his pioneering work in using technology to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of dental trauma. Become familiar with the research methods used in the area. Recognize the role of dental apps in the diagnosis and management of dental trauma
Recognize successful e-(oral)Health strategies during the current pandemic, as well as their limitations. Understand the impact e-dentistry may have on the patient, the provider, and organizational challenges. Understand the limitations and advantages to be taken into consideration when considering e-oral health solutions.
To strengthen and promote research in e-(oral)Health by discussing the questions that remain open for research. Acquire information about research in e-oral health and teledentistry initiatives from around the world, specifically. Learn about e-health research framework and conceptual models. Be knowledgeable of results from current research about e-oral health. Identify gaps in current research in e-oral health.
