Description
There is increasing recognition of the need for comprehensive, adolescent-specific data to inform health system design and delivery. The World Health Organization emphasizes the importance of involving adolescents in efforts to improve their health and well-being, especially as adolescents tend to have lower levels of trust in health systems than adults. However, reliable data on adolescents’ experiences with and perspectives on health systems—including utilization, confidence, and care experiences —remains limited. Filling these gaps is essential to ensuring health systems are responsive to the unique needs of this population. The People’s Voice Survey (PVS), a brief and accessible health system performance measurement tool that can be administered by phone or online, has traditionally focused on adult respondents. However, its design makes it well-suited for adaptation to adolescent populations. This session will present ongoing efforts to adapt and implement the PVS for adolescents across several European countries.
The project, currently active in Switzerland, Germany, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Scotland, aims to assess how health systems are meeting the needs of adolescents. Data collection is complete in Germany and launching next month in Switzerland, with other countries following in the near future.
