Co-infections in COVID-19 patients in Latvia



Purpose: detection of co-infections in COVID-19 patients in Latvia. Data include information about 154 hospitalized COVID-19 patients age, gender, date of sample collection and presence of co-infections. Presence of seven respiratory bacteria (Bordetella parapertussis, Bordetella pertussis, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Streptococcus pneumoniae) was determined in DNA samples extracted from nasopharyngeal swabs using multiplex PCR kit (Allplex Respiratory Panel 4, Seegene, South Korea). Presence of 12 viral infections (Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, Herpes simplex virus type 1, Herpes simplex virus type 2, Human herpes virus 6, Human herpes virus 7, Varicella-zoster virus, Adenovirus, Enterovirus, Human parechovirus, Mumps virus and Parvovirus B19) in DNA samples extracted from peripheral blood and cell-free blood plasma was done using multiplex PCR kits (Allpex Meningitis-V1 Assay and Allplex Meningitis-V2 Assay, Seegene, South Korea).
