The aim of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Oral Health is to implement qualitative and competitive undergraduate studies, organise post-graduate training, take active involvement in scientific work and participate in international cooperation.
Main directions:
The Department provides undergraduate study courses in accredited study programmes "Dentistry" and "Dental Hygiene": Operative Dentistry; Dental Roentgenology; Preventive Dentistry; Paediatric Dentistry; Dental Anatomy; Dental Public Health; Cariology; Endodontics; Periodontology.
The department also organises post-graduate medical training in paediatric dentistry, periodontology and endodontics and continuing education programmes for medical and dental practitioners.
Implementation of doctoral studies - serving as a post-graduate scientific and pedagogical work base.
Research at different levels - undergraduate student, medical resident, doctoral student, national and international research projects.
Cooperation with other Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) structural units, national and international institutions.
On the 1st of February, the 2022 Study programme in Dental Hygiene (qualification of a Dental Hygienist-1st level professional higher education corresponding to the 5th level of EQF/LQF) was added to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Oral Health thus ensuring closer cooperation between the different levels of the dental team.
The main research themes:
Epidemiological research of prevalence and severity of dental caries, periodontal diseases, other diseases of the hard tissues of the teeth and dental pulp.
Dental Research, Epidemiology, Data Analysis, Data Visualization, Exploratory Data Analysis, Biostatistics.
Preventive Dentistry, Community Dentistry, Dental Public Health.
Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Convolutional Neural Networks
Caries risk factors and prognostic models, The impact of social, economic and psychological factors on oral health.
Oral health in children with congenital clefts.
Non-invasive and minimally invasive treatment methods of early childhood caries.
