Research interests

Dr. Valentyn Mohylyuk is a pharmaceutical scientist with industrial and academic experience. He got his BS/MS degree in Pharmaceutical Technology at the National University of Pharmacy (2002, Ukraine) and his PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (2016, Ukraine). Since 2002, Dr. V. Mohylyuk has worked for the biggest Ukrainian full-cycle pharmaceutical companies, such as Farmak (2002–03), Borshchahivskiy CPP (2003–07), Arterium (2007–11), and Unipharma (2014–16), and held positions related to the development, scale-up, putting into operations, and manufacturing of different dosage forms. The majority of projects were related to modified generic/generic products in solid dosage forms, including manufacturing techniques such as direct compression/capsulation, roll compaction, wet/melt (high-shear and fluid bed) granulation, coating (in pans and fluid bed), and related analytical techniques. His experience at universities includes work in the research groups at Freie Universität Berlin (2012–13; Germany), the University of Hertfordshire (2017–19; UK), and Queen's University Belfast (2019–23; UK). Since 2023, Dr. Valentyn Mohylyuk has been leading the scientific group at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Riga Stradiņš University.

Dr V. Mohylyuk is mostly focused on solving current challenges and the development of complicated dosage form formulations with tailored drug release incl. oral taste-masked, immediate-, sustained- and delayed-release, as well as formulations with enhanced solubility and permeability.

Among the research directions are highlighted the following:
- improving the solubility and bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs in oral dosage forms (ODF)
- optimization of the pharmacokinetics and custom properties of ODF.
- development of “special” ODF
- continuous manufacturing steps of solid DF
- FDM 3D-printing
- repurposing "classical" technological approaches
