Research interests
Dr. V. Mohylyuk is a pharmaceutical scientist with industrial and academic experience. He got his BS/MS in Pharm Technology and his PhD degree in Pharm Sci. Since 2002, Dr. V. Mohylyuk has worked for pharmaceutical companies and held positions related to development (pre- and formulation), scale-up, technology transfer, and manufacturing of different dosage forms. His working experience at universities includes research groups at Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Hertfordshire, and Queen's University Belfast. Since 2023, Dr. Valentyn Mohylyuk has been leading the pharmaceutical scientific group at Riga Stradiņš University.
Dr. V. Mohylyuk is mostly focused on solving current challenges and the development of complicated dosage form formulations with tailored drug release, incl. oral taste-masked, immediate-, sustained-, and delayed-release, as well as formulations with enhanced solubility and permeability.
Among the research directions are
- improving the solubility and bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs in oral dosage forms
- optimization of the pharmacokinetics and custom properties of dosage forms
- development of “special” dosage forms, such as abuse-deterrent formulations; continuous manufacturing steps, such as extrusion and roll compaction
- FDM 3D printing, incl. implants
- and repurposing "classical" technological approaches.
