RTG-218 resulted in the first ever systematic exchange of military suicide data across 17 nations, to generate a Technical Report, 9 White Papers, 4 International Presentations at Scientific meetings, and the creation of a NATO Symposium on Military Suicide and, , subsequently, RTG-277 on Leadership Tools for Suicide Prevention. This award highlights the collective effort of representatives from countries which shared information in the spirit of collaboration. RTG-218 has prepared 9 White Papers on various topics towards military suicide prevention, which served as consensus statements, guided by evidence-informed scientific practices in military suicide prevention. This is an important first step in the global public health strategy in combating military suicide – one that must be sustained and built upon.
