Advancing Postpartum Depression Care in Latvia

Project Details

Description

This research initiative, led by Riga Stradins University, seeks to address the prevalent challenge of Postpartum Depression (PPD) in Latvia. The project's objectives encompass the validation of screening scales, development of risk assessment tools, and the implementation of a pilot care model in Riga. Validating PHQ-9 and EPDS, the study emphasizes local adaptation and integrates qualitative insights. Collaboration with international expert Prof. Nancy Byatt from the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, USA, enriches the project's scope. Sustainability efforts involve open access dissemination of results and recommendations. The distribution plan spans peer-reviewed journals, databases, and engagement with health authorities. The project aspires to leave a lasting impact on healthcare policies, guidelines, and patient pathways. Internationally, collaboration extends to networks like Lifeline for Moms, The International Marcé Society, and Research Innovation and Sustainable Pan-European Network in Peripartum Depression Disorder. The project contributes not only to local interventions but also advances global understanding of perinatal mental health. Furthermore, the project's ambitions extend to securing further research support from both national and international funding agencies, ensuring continued support for impactful advancements in perinatal mental health research.
