Description
Key activities: Analyse research papers on European sports governance (ESG) and the Lex sportiva (LS) as well as the legal framework for sport in European countries within the good governance (GG) context; Develop guidelines defining the factors for assessing national legislation in EU MS regarding ESG and LS pursuing (GG); Carry out a legal analysis of the Latvian sport legal framework, determining its compatibility with ESG and LS identifying areas of coherence, conflict and improvement; Obtain the views of national and international sports policy makers, leaders of sport NGOs and legal experts on the touchpoints between ESG and LS in the context of GG. Results: Assessment of Latvian sports regulation within the context of ESG and LS in respect of GG; Assessment on how the interplay of ESG and LS influences and shapes national sports legal frameworks within European countries; Disclosure of opportunities arising from the convergence of ESG and LS, providing insights for improvements; Development of guidelines defining the factors for assessing national legislation in EU MS regarding ESG and LS pursuing GG of sport. Elaboration of policy recommendations and best practices for optimizing the synergy between ESG and LS to enhance the legal framework of European sport; Contribution to the academic discourse by providing a understanding of the dynamic relationship between ESG and LS.
