Description
The aim of the study is to develop the first scientifically validated guide (algorithm) for determining the shelf life of self-biodegradable packaging materials. The self-biodegradable process differs significantly from the general biodegradation process, and therefore the life cycle assessment methods are also different. As such materials are only just beginning to appear on the global market, there is currently a complete lack of technical standards and legal criteria determining how long such packaging remains safe for use in the food and other industries.
The result will serve as an AI-compatible decision support tool for packaging designers and manufacturers, allowing them to integrate it into AI solutions for automated assessment of the shelf life of biodegradable packaging materials, thus promoting sustainability, regulatory compliance, and innovation in the packaging industry.
