Description
A major problem in sport is the insufficient psychological preparation of athletes, which manifests itself as the inability to effectively realize their potential in competitions. Coaches and sports specialists are aware of the importance of psychological preparation in athletes' achievements, but in practice there are still relatively few fundamental, scientific evidence-based, effective, and easy-to-use tools for the realization of preparation. The aim is the standardization of the norms of the Latvian Personality Inventory (LPI-v3) for athletes and the creation of a multi-factorial profile (MFP) of athletes (18-25 years old). A reliable measuring instrument will be standardized specifically for assessing the personality traits of athletes. The MFP (personality traits, psychological skills, and psycho-physiological indicators) will serve as an effective tool for evaluating athletes' psychological preparation, promoting the realization of their potential. Additional benefit will be the opportunity to transfer acquired knowledge for the practical preparation of highly qualified sports specialists. The results of the study: 1) standardization of the LPI-v3 for determining the personality traits of athletes; 2) creation of MFP for the development of an innovative approach to ensure effective psychological preparation of athletes and for further scientific research on a Latvian and international level, providing a platform for the practical activities of sports specialists.
