Ģimeņu ar bērnu ar funkcionāliem traucējumiem vajadzību izpētē balstīts atbalsta pakalpojums

The authors’ daily work is in the Welfare Department of the Riga City Council, one of the main functions of which is to provide the population with social services that meet their needs. In 2020, the Welfare Department of the Riga City Council conducted a study on the needs of families with children with disabilities to create a social support service that would be professional and based on the needs of the family as a system, providing real support, which is assessed by parents as adequate. The article discusses the theoretical findings, research methodology, main conclusions and the participation of parents and potential service providers in the design of the new social support service as well as the concept and framework of the new service.
