Abstract

Swimming is one of the most popular recreational and competitive sports. The repetitive nature of swimming and the demanding training programs of athletes have raised some concerns regarding the frequency and severity of injuries that a swimmer may sustain during the competitive season. Several risk factors have been identified previously, but the level of evidence from individual studies, as well as the level of certainty that these factors predispose a swimmer to pain and injury, remains unclear (Almeida, Meyer, Oh., 2007, Costill, Kovaleski, Porter, Kirwan, Fielding, King, 1985, Pink, Perry, Browne, Scovazzo, Kerrigan,1991, Weldon, Richardson, 2001). Incorrect posture and muscle imbalances negatively affect the effectiveness of the training process (development of technical elements, increasing the load, increasing the result). Significant functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system reduce the functional capacity of the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive and nervous systems, as well as the adaptation of the body and vice versa. Any pain in the shoulder is a signal to the trainer about the problem.
