Abstract

The importance of trileaflet synthetic heart valve for the patients with heart diseases was discussed. The artificial heart valve design incorporated a composite material with the thread architecture and leaflet geometry. A new material for implant applications, polystyrene-polyisobutylene-polystyrene (SIBS) was selected as the matrix material because of its inertness properties.
