Abstract
Latviaisanex-SovietcountrywithLatvianandethnicallyRussianpopulationandahistoryofuneasyrelationshipwithRussia,includingtheloveandhaterelationshipwithRussiansports.ManyathletesandtrainersworkinginLatviahavecompetedandweretrainedinRussia,usingRussianfacilities,or,fortheoldergeneration,theSovietUnion.However,RussiaandRussian-speakingLatvianresidents,includingthecitizensofLatvia,havebeenlongviewedwithsuspicionandhavebeenthesubjectofdiscriminationattimesofcrisis.ThispaperexaminestherepresentationofthewarinUkraineinthesportingmediaofLatviafromFebruarytoearlyOctober2022.ThematerialissourcedfromthemainnewsportalofLatvia,Delfi,whichhasaLatvian-languageandaRussian-languageversions.Itisfoundthatthetwoversionshavesignificantdifferencesinthewaytheyrefertothewarinsport-relatednewsitems.
