Abstract

In this study we had studied the effect of the polyphenol extract from algae on the activity of the human pancreatic lipase in presence and absence of bile using milk as a substrate for the enzyme. The extract containing the polyphenol was provided for the study by the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (IWC) which is the main centre of wood science in Latvia, founded in 1946. It is an independent state non-profit organisation under supervisory of the Ministry of Education and Science Republic of Latvia. The study has been funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) under COST CA 15135 agreement – Multi Target Paradigm for innovative Ligand Identification in Drug Discovery Process (MuTaLig). The aim of this COST Action is to join highly-qualified research teams working in disciplines around the field of medicinal chemistry, into a novel network devoted to the multi-target issue in drug discovery. COST is supported by the EU framework Programme Horizon 2020.
