Abstract
The aim of the study: to adapt the mechanisms of the MBDMT intervention model – detaching and being in discomfort, meaning making, acceptance and integration – in the art therapy for patients with chronic pain. Research questions: 1. What factors are important in the operation of the mechanisms of the MBDMT intervention model? 2. How do the participants of the pilot session experience distancing and being in discomfort, meaning-making, acceptance and integration during the VPMT session? 3. What factors ensure the functioning of the mechanisms of distancing and being in discomfort, meaning-making, acceptance and integration in ABVPMT? 4. What is the feedback from patients with chronic pain about MBAT? 5. What aspects of the functioning of the mechanisms are observed during the MBAT? Research method: The research was conducted in three stages, using a qualitative research design. The author attended training seminar on mindfulness-based dance and movement therapy intervention model in the first phase of the research. In order to identify the determinants related to the therapeutic principles of the MBDMT model, participants were observed during the workshop. The pilot session for the group was organized in the second stage of the research. At the end of the session, study participants took place in a focus group interview. Ten MBAT sessions were organized for the group of patients with chronic pain in the third phase of the research. At the end of the treatment, the group members participated in a focus group interview. Patients were observed using semi-structured excluded follow-up during their therapy. All data obtained in the study were analyzed by the method of thematic analysis. Results and conclusions. As a result of the research, the performance factors of the MBDMT model mechanisms were clarified. The operation of detachment/being in discomfort, meaning-making, acceptance and integration mechanisms during the MBAT pilot session has been explored. Factors that ensure the mechanisms of distancing and being in discomfort, meaning-making, acceptance and integration in the MBAT have been identified. Feedback on MBAT in chronic pain patients and aspects of the mechanism of action during MBAT have been established.
