Abstract

In the framework of the Master’s work, adapted Mindful-Based Dance Movement Therapy intervention model mechanisms – releasing/relaxation, self-regulation, creative process in visual plastic art therapy for chronic pain patients. In order to adapt these mechanisms, a Master’s work study (study) was carries out in three phases involving four issues. Study issues: What factors are essential for adapting of Mindful-Based Dance Movement Therapy intervention model mechanisms in visual plastic art therapy, How participants of pilot study experienced releasing/relaxation, self-regulation, creative process in the pilot study of visual plastic art therapy, What are the recommendations of the pilot study participants on the mechanisms – releasing/relaxation, self-regulation, creative process of Mindful-Based Dance Movement Therapy intervention model, for adapting in visual plastic art therapy, What is the feedback of chronic pain patients on Mindful-Based Visual Plastic Art Therapy. Study method: Based on the results of the sagitting phase and the second phase, when the thematic analysis method analyses and pooled data on key factors of Mindful-based interventions, developed a ten session plan of Mindful-Based Visual Plastic Art Therapy for chronic pain patients in group, conducted ten sessions for chronic pain patients (n=5) and in the context of the focus group interview (n=5), feedback on treatment received. The resulting data are analysed by Thematic analysis method and triangulation of researchers at all stages. Study provide information on key factors, fundamental principles, sequential therapeutic steps that can be taken into account working with chronic pain patients to increased pain acceptance, monitoring of perceived pain and alleviating symptoms of pain intensity and inability in the short term. There is no intervention model of Mindful-Based Visual Plastic Art Therapy for chronic pain patients in Latvia, so this is the first step in developing such a programme. The information provided in the Study invites existing art therapists familiarity with the basic principles, capabilities and appropriateness if treatment in chronic pain patients
