Abstract
In the article titled “Modern Human and the Archetypes” there is an outline of the
fundamental concepts of analytical psychology and the structure of human psyche described by
great Swiss psychologist and thinker Carl Gustav Jung. Jung’s theory was created more than a
hundred and ten years ago, when psychology and neuroscience in their modern sense had not
yet developed. The time has come to critically evaluate the insights of Jung’s classical theory
of archetypes, its clinical application in analytical psychotherapy, and its contribution to modern
culture as well as to the understanding of man. In this article, a presentation and critical
evaluation of the classic psychology of archetypes will be made, with the aim of clarifying its
relationship with the achievements of modern science, connecting the insights of psychology
with anthropology, genetics, and neuroscience.
