Abstract
This chapter discusses the application of AI in oral medicine, pathology, surgery and forensic dentistry, based on the available systematic reviews. It also focuses on the potential of generative AI to create Clinical Foundations Models, capable of using any type of input data (images, laboratory, clinical records, genomic data) merged with databases containing the latest validated research to provide clinicians with the ability to manage complex and large datasets using natural language. Finally, it emphasises the need for AI, like any other medical technology, to demonstrate efficacy and safety through well-designed, controlled clinical trials.
