Abstract

The promising future of artificial intelligence (AI) has resulted in growing interest and research, specifically in the field of oral and maxillofacial radiology. In this chapter, we aim to provide you with a comprehensive look at the present state of AI in oral imaging. We will examine the various ways in which AI is currently employed in this field, explore the key research areas and applications that are gaining interest, and shed light on the tools and technologies that facilitate automated diagnosis. In addition, we will examine the practical aspects of developing, purchasing, implementing, and monitoring AI tools in dental radiology to ensure that they meet both clinical and ethical standards. It is also imperative that we recognize the challenges and pitfalls that come with these advancements and the ethical dilemmas that arise when AI integrates further into oral health imaging.
