Abstract
The activity of the lysozyme was examined in the serum and urine of 85 patients with different forms of leukaemia and 22 healthy persons by means of the turbidimetric method of Parry, Chandan and Shanani slightly modified by the authors. At least once during the disease a moderately strong lysozymuria was detected in 3/4 of the patients affected with a chronic myelocytic leukaemia. The renal threshold was between 35 and 70 mkg/ml of serum lysozyme. The lysozyme excretion was especially high in two patients affected with a terminal release of blastic cells, in one of them affected with a terminal release of uniform monoblastic cells it amounted to 2 g in the 24 hour urine. Lysozymuria was regularly to be met in patients affected with chronic monocytic and myelomonocytic leukaemia, yet there is a complicated dependence of the intensity of lysozymuria on lysozymaemia. This dependence is discussed by means of clinical examples and a diagram.
