Abstract

The first psychiatric colony for employment and medical care of the chronically ill in Latvia was established in Rīga in the beginning of 1941. Written memories of its founder and director, psychiatrist Dr. A. Laksbergs (1901–1983), are stored in Pauls Stradiņš Museum of History of Medicine. The colony worked only until the June 1941, when its existence was ceased by the World War II.
