Abstract

The urgency of development of critical thinking in our university is closely related with a new view on the higher education itself. Students as developers of consciousness of the new society are of utmost importance in education. Therefore it is necessary to make innovations infields of pedagogy and didactics in order to develop critical thinking. The demand from modern education is development of scientific, social and professional competence. It is necessary for learning more effective independent studying skills in order for the student to choose active participation instead of becoming an observer or consumer of existent knowledge. The goals of this article are:
Analysis of didactic methods for mastering general chemistry taking into consideration the principles of critical thinking and different studying strategies;
Examination of the newly developed educational material - "General chemistry".
