Abstract
The first part of this article, published in the previous issue of our Quarterly, presents an overview of the theoretical framework for considering urban autonomies in terms of a laboratory for co-management of urban space. This mechanism is an example of how multi-band administration theory might be applied to cultural landscape types which – given their various formal, functional or substantive characteristics – do not lend themselves to the cooperation forms sanctioned for subsidiary community units. Urban autonomies encompass a limited, delineated area within which they unite committed individuals who bring knowledge and motivation to participate. We now proceed to the second part, which summarises selected elements of the participatory study conducted between November 2014 and April 2018 on the Jazdów housing estate in Warsaw and within the Otwarty Jazdów community.
