Abstract
Since 2020, each EU Member State has been required to report the total amount of food waste generated in the country at each stage of the food supply chain: primary production; processing and food manufacturing; retail and other distribution; food services; and households. To assess progress towards achieving food waste reduction targets and report to the European Commission on the amount of food waste generated in Latvia in 2024, a study was conducted from September 2023 to April 2025. The resulting report describes the study's methodology and results.
