Abstract

The importance of lifestyle and dietary habits during pregnancy
and breastfeeding for health of mothers and their offspring is widely supported
by the most recent scientific literature. Requirements for some macronutrients
such as energy and protein and micronutrients such as iron, iodine, calcium, folic
acid, and vitamin D increase during pregnancy and lactation to maintain maternal
homeostasis and foetal growth
