Abstract

This chapter examines the range of scholarly publications, from traditional journal articles to modern formats, and details their impact on the dissemination of research. It covers the scientific cycle from concept to publication, highlighting the different types of journal articles—such as research articles, reviews, and letters to the editor—and their characteristics. The critical role of peer review in maintaining scientific integrity and its limitations are discussed. This chapter also examines alternative forms of communication, such as preprints, protocols, and datasets, and the impact of digital platforms on scientific communication. It emphasizes the benefits of open access and transparency in promoting collaboration and advancing societal knowledge.
