Abstract

Despite of biocompatibility and bioactivity of hydroxyapatitc (HAp) ceramics the mechanical strength is the main disadvantages limiting their application in medicine. In this work are investigated technological possibilities of synthesis of HAp based glass ceramic composites with improved biological functionality. The starting materials for synthesis used are: biocompatiblc glasses of the systems CaO - Nb2O5 (TiO2, Ta2O5) - P2O5 and BaO - B2O3 - P2O5, HAp, Si organic compounds, Ti - alloys. Composite arc synthesiscd using ceramics, sol - gel and poly layers obtaining technologies. Synthesised materials arc investigated by x-ray diffraction, 3-point tensile strength testing and "in - vivo" testing methods.
