Abstract

A study of mechanical properties during extension of samples of the great subcutaneous vein and femoral artery taken at autopsy from 10 subjects aged between 31 and 48 years and of samples of the same vein removed during surgical operation has established that replacement of a segment of the femoral artery by a venous transplant in restorative operations on vessels is feasible and justified by their mechanical properties.
