The Doctoral Thesis “Language Policy Implementation Management in State Higher Education Institutions in Latvia” reveals research on language policy and its implementation management in state higher education institutions (SHEIs) in LR to facilitate the development of language competence and language learning. The development of language competence is essential for students and staff of HEI to involve in internationalisation processes and to be competitive in the labour market in Latvia and Europe. The situation of language policy and language teaching and learning in SHEIs have been studied and analyzed in the research. A model of language policy in HEI has been developed, as well as the language policy documents of LU have been analysed. The Doctoral Thesis has been worked out at the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Arts of LU. Key words. Language policy, language competence, multilingualism
